Any discipline or behavior problems amongst students or between students and staff will be documented in a discipline referral form. Each referral is considered a written warning. Three written warnings will merit a suspension. Any student that receives 3 discipline referrals will receive an automatic out-of-school suspension. There are some incidents that will merit an immediate suspension or expulsion. The following are a list of offenses that will NOT be tolerated on school grounds. For complete list of offenses, see Parent/Student handbook.
DISCIPLINE PHILOSOPHY
Our philosophy of discipline is an essential part of Christian living and this is evident throughout Scripture. God disciplines those whom He loves so that they can become better men and women of God. At IBCK Educational Center we believe that discipline establishes order and keeps our hearts in check with God’s Word. Discipline is used as a confrontational tool to help individuals take ownership of their wrong actions and to help them in correcting that what was done.
DISCIPLINE PLAN
STOP, PRAY & CHOOSE
Each classroom has a STOP, PRAY & CHOOSE poster that the teacher utilizes to prompt the student when he or she exhibits inappropriate school behavior. This is always the first recourse.
Low-level offense: the student will have a conference with the teacher regarding the offense committed. Possible consequences for low-level offenses include: silent lunch, loss of recess, or loss of classroom privilege.
Mid-level offense: the student will have a conference with teacher and parent regarding the offense committed. Consequences for mid-level offense include: silent lunch, in school detention (30 minutes), loss of recess, or loss of classroom privilege.
Severe-level offense: the student will have a conference with teacher, principal, and parent regarding the offense committed. Consequences for fourth offenses include: school suspension, behavioral probation, loss of class privileges or expulsion.
